Preston Shumpert is a former professional basketball player who was born on July 24, 1979 in New York City, New York, United States. He played college basketball at Syracuse University, where he was named the Big East Conference Co-Player of the Year in 2002.
Shumpert went undrafted in the 2002 NBA draft but signed with the Sacramento Kings later that year. He played two seasons with the Kings before being traded to the Utah Jazz in 2004. After a brief stint in Utah, he played for several teams in Europe and Asia, as well as in the NBA D-League (now G League).
Shumpert is known for his sharpshooting skills and was a prolific three-point shooter during his time in college and in the professional ranks. He is also remembered for his clutch performances, including a game-winning shot in the NCAA Tournament against Oklahoma State in 2000.
